THE QUILT
I've mentioned several times before that I was going to do a post about Axel's quilt that my sister made.
Well, here it is!
I photograph Axel's monthly photos on it each month, so you've seen it before, but my sister, Claire, just started a brand new blog, She and Whim, and her first post is about Axel's quilt. You should definitely go check out her blog, and see more photos of her amazing handy-work!

NURSERY UPDATE // RED, RED, RED
I hadn't gotten them by the time Matt took pictures of the nursery, but my friends and family must actually read my blog (?!).
Taylor, one of my dearest friends, saw that I wanted a red pouf. So what does she do? She crocheted one for me! She didn't buy it, she made it. Wow.
Cate, my sister who I've mentioned on here many, many times, bought the sweet rocking moose for Axel for Christmas. I love it, and can't wait for him to be big enough to ride it. Wait, what am I saying? Yes I can wait! He's already growing up too fast for my liking.
And for the final touch of red, I bought this little trash can for Axel's cloth diapers.

DEAL OF THE DAY
OK, so I've been pining for a new 'everyday' watch for a while, and really loved the look of this watch from J. Crew... but the price tag? Nooottttt happening.
So the hunt continued.
&quality=90&profile=jpeg)
I then started searching Amazon, and (AH!) came across this watch! What?! It's Timex, too? It also has a nylon watch band? And it's how much?! I was super excited, put it in my cart, and for some reason, decided to wait to actually purchase it.
(I know it says that it's a "Men's Watch," but I also saw this and this listing, and they are the same size as the green watch. So apparently the green strap makes it manly, but I disagree.)
Later that day I was at Target, and what do I see? A whole display of the Timex Weekender watches with replacement watch straps for only 6.99! The watch straps at J. Crew are $20 each.
I bought that watch, plus a navy strap, and a red strap.

Total spent at Target: $49
The cost for a very similar watch and two straps at J. Crew: $190

OUR HAVEN
Our bedroom has been the most difficult room in our home for me to decorate. Why?
The room is tiny, tiny. And we have a huge, huge king sized bed. A king sized bed that neither me, nor my husband, are willing to part with, even if a smaller bed would look better in the space. We love our big bed. Love. It.
The windows are also unfortunately located. All I want is to be able to sit up in bed at night, and read a little. Is that too much to ask? There are 2 walls that the bed can go on, both leave me leaning against a window. We have a headboard that we both like, and I've tried to make it work. Really, I have. But the window sill jutting out makes it impossible (for me) to both hang on the wall, and simultaneously be sturdy. So we nixed the headboard.
I'm thinking we really need a bed. Like a complete bed. Not just a headboard and a metal frame with a bedskirt. I want to keep the wall color, the dresser, and most of our bedding. New bed. New night stands. New lamps. Plus, rehang art.
This is just the beginning stages of what I'm thinking I want to do:
1. Nyvoll Bed 2. Keep current pillows 3. Keep dresser 4. Keep duvet 5. Fado lamps 6. White sheets 7. Navy shag rug (already own) 8. FOR LIKE EVER Poster, already own, but needs to be reframed
The big question mark is what I want to do for the night stands. Still haven't figured that one out.

LOVE, AXEL
For Luis' Valentine's Day gift this year, Axel drew his very first drawing. And when I say "drew," I mean he held the pen while I held the mug in front of the pen. Was he aware that he was drawing? That's debatable.
So here is Axel's gift to his Dad for Valentine's. The wording is eerily reminiscent of his birthday card, but that's OK!
You can't really read it, but at the bottom it says "(FIRST DRAWING / 5 MONTHS)"
We used a Pebeo Porcelaine 150 pen on an inexpensive mug that I bought at Target. You just draw on the mug, wait 24 hours, and then bake it at 300° F for 35 minutes. Easy peasy.
