my nephew, clark, recently turned one, and the birthday party had a superman theme [you know, because his name is clark]. so in the spirit of themed gifts, i embroidered this t-shirt for him:

i picked up this desk at a thrift store [where else?], and after scraping off countless petrified gum wads and a wasps nest, i was able to give it new life.

luis and i bought this bedroom set at a thrift store before we even bought our house. i was so excited to set everything up when we moved in, but suddenly realized that i couldn't.... i bought a mattress, bed slats, and bedding, but alas, no bed rails to put it all together. so for the last 8 months the mattress has been sitting on the floor with the headboard and foot board leaning against the wall.

two weeks ago i was browsing yet another thrift store, when i saw the type of bed rails that i needed... for $10! sold! after a little elbow grease and some paint:

fridge.

i don't know why i haven't posted this. actually, i don't know why i haven't blogged at all in the past week, because i certainly have stuff to blog about!

i've been working on our house quite a bit lately... painting, gardening and rearranging/organizing things.

project one: paint the fridge! i completely fixed up our kitchen about a month ago [i can't say that i remodeled it, because, well, i just painted and painted and painted], and our old, noisy fridge looked terrible in the new space! it was driving me crazy, and since we can't afford a new fridge right now, i decided to paint it.
