kilim!

I've been trying to win a Kilim Runner Rug on ebay for quite some time now, and it finally happened:

Vegetable Afghan Ghazni Kilim Runner to be exact : Hand-woven, hand-knotted, wool pile with cotton foundation. Fantastic. I'm a sucker for anything hand-woven.

This is what the hallway looked like when we moved in:

the bench cost $30 at a local thrift store, and i already had the left over fabric from the dining room chairs. i also used some ultra white semi gloss paint that we already had from painting the base boards. there were five layers of fabric on the bench, and the first layer had button tufting, so i just recovered the buttons with some extra fabric and a little hot glue, and then reapplied them.

i figured that even if we decided not to use the bench as a permanent fixture in our home, i could always use it as a loom bench, which i desperately need anyways.
